Picture of the Week: The Rogue River Trail

5 09 2012

The Picture of the Week is delayed a bit again this week due to a return trip to the Rogue River. I was a guest again of Rogue Wilderness Adventures, only this time for their Hopilicious Hiking trip. Hiking, beer tasting, rafting, and views like this for 4 glorious days and 3 nights. I would like to again thank all of the folks at Rogue Wilderness Adventures for throwing more awesome my way than one person can really be expected to handle. You are top shelf folks, top shelf! Picture of the Week: Indian Heaven Wilderness

29 08 2012

The picture of the week is a bit delayed this time around because I was backpacking. Well here’s what was keeping me away from the computer. This was sunrise yesterday morning from my camp at Lake Sahalee Tyee in the Indian Heaven Wilderness. (Click on photo for larger image).

Picture of the Week: Silver Star Mountain

13 08 2012

Ed’s Trail on Silver Star Mountain might be pound for pound, the most scenic, wildflower-laden hike in the Portland area. Easily in my top 5 favorite hikes of all time. This shot is from a similar vantage of a previous Pic o’ the week, but dang….I just love this trail so much. Click on photo for larger view.

Picture of the Week: The Oregon Coast

6 08 2012

I know the title is kind of vague. This shot was taken looking towards the Inn at Otter Crest from the Flying Dutchman Winery. Not a bad spot for wine tasting eh? Click photo for larger image.

Red Tricycle: A Hidden Waterfall Oasis

25 07 2012

My latest article for Red Tricycle is about the Oneonta Gorge. It has perhaps one of the most photogenic waterfalls in the Gorge and it is definitely my daughter’s favorite place to swim. Click here to give it a read.

Picture of the Week: Rafting the Wild and Scenic Rogue River

23 07 2012

The Rogue River in southern Oregon is one of the original 8 to be included in the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act of 1968. Last week I spent 4 days and 3 nights rafting and kayaking it as part of assignment for Northwest Travel Magazine. The trip, courtesy of Rogue Wilderness Adventures, was almost indescribably beautiful and inspiring. Which is bad news if you’re a travel writer. This picture is a particularly scenic spot called Mule Creek Canyon. You can click on the photo for a larger view.
