When I first started going to Po’Shines, it was because it was one of the best restaurants in North Portland. When the soul food eatery opened, it immediately became a favorite haunt for Kenton residents, followed quickly by the rest of town. But when I learned what was happening behind the pass, besides the best chicken & waffles around, it made me want to champion their cause even more. My latest for 1859 Magazine tells the story.
